Pixar’s Inside Out will make the Top Ten Films list of almost every one of The Cinema Files’ writers.  It’s a masterpiece, pure and simple.  So when one of our favorite YouTube expositors, The Nerdwriter, posted a video explaining some of the emotional theory behind the film, we thought it neccessary to share it.

Although I really enjoyed his analysis, he didn’t explore something that I’ve found to be true in my life (which is why the film rang so true to me), which is that the primary cause of many anxiety disorders is the internal denial of emotions that our culture has deemed ‘bad.’  Joy represents that denial, and only when she realizes that ‘negative’ emotions are essential and that pushing out Sadness was the cause of the problems Riley was experiencing does the day get saved.

What did you think of his analysis?  Let us know below!
