Lucasfilm’s upcoming Han Solo spinoff has found its gambler, Lando Calrissian. Previously there had been rumors that Donald Glover (Community, Atlanta) was going to get the job playing Han’s scoundrel buddy, but today it was made official. He will play opposite Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!, Beautiful Creatures), who was announced to be playing Han Solo a few months ago.
The Star Wars social network accounts broke the news:

The directors of the upcoming Star Wars spinoff, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, commented on the casting decision:
We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us. These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.
Glover is the writer/showrunner of Atlanta, which has received critical aclaim. He was also part of Community, both as a writer and an actor, which is one of my favorite comedies of all time.
