It’s been over a year since we got the first Star Wars movie under the new Disney-owned Lucasfilm.  The Force Awakens broke almost every box office record imaginable (it beat Avatar in every category except international gross) and it was met with critic and fan approval.  Now, having their first spin-off in the books (Rogue One), it’s time to start focusing on the next installment.  So without further ado here is the title:

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

There have been a lot of questions about who the last ‘Jedi’ is, but it’s important to note that the plural of Jedi is…Jedi.  So it could refer to both Rey and Luke.

Here is the official press release from Lucasfilm:

We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. THE LAST JEDI is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski. STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is scheduled for release December 15, 2017.
