Tomorrow night the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will have their yearly awards presentation, also know as The Oscars or The Academy Awards. As the resident Awards geek here at The Cinema Files, it is my responsibility to share my predictions.
Please keep in mind that these are my predictions and don’t represent the prognostications of the whole team.
Also, this list is what I think WILL win, not necessarily what I think SHOULD win.
Below I will italicize and set in bold the prediction in each category.
I’ve made some unconventional picks in certain categories, and like many others I predict that La La Land is going to have a very good night. This will continue the Academy’s streak of choosing well-made films that make them look good or they can empathize with (e.g. The Artist, Argo). But I will say that we at the Cinema Files generally agree that it is one of the best films of the year (I only put Arrival above it). It’s masterfully made and will have earned every award it gets.
