Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight is hitting the road with a “glorious 70mm” presentation December 25. This will be the first true 70mm release of a film in nearly 50 years, “reminding people that the cinema is a place to be revered”.

Written and Directed by Tarantino, The Hateful Eight is a bloody western set in post civil war Wyoming. As a blizzard sweeps through the area, a batch of ruthless bounty hunters are forced to find shelter, only to find themselves in a plot full of betrayal and deception. The film began production in January 2015 and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Channing Tatum, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen and Bruce Dern.

The Weinstein Company has committed to distributing the film in three forms; 70mm, 35mm, as well as digital. You may be asking yourself, “What makes 70mm so great?”; to put it simply, its 65mm film that is projected in 70mm, resulting in a powerfully, beautiful image, twice that size you’re used to.  Even if you aren’t lucky enough to have a 70mm film house near you, The Hateful Eight will be in wide release.
