CBS released a trailer during SDCC 16 revealing the title for their new Trek series. Labeled “Star Trek:Discovery,” the title mirrors the name of the starship which will be the focus of the series. The design of the USS Discovery seems to support rumors that the series takes place sometime in the 200 years between TOS and TNG.
While we are very excited about this series, and love the design of the ship, we can’t help being disappointed by a few things. First is the upsetting North American exclusion from Netflix’s deal to stream this series, leaving the horrid CBS ALL ACCESS the only place for the US and Canada to watch it. Secondly, the animation in the trailer below is decidedly sub-par. With CGI being a staple in so many TV series now, the extremely cheap looking animation leaves us fearing the production value of the show…
